Drift Light is a single-purpose Chrome extension that monitors your behavior on youtube.com to compute a real-time distraction score. When the score crosses a threshold, it shows a warning or blocks the page depending on your plan. No other functionality is provided.
On youtube.com only, Drift Light observes the following in-page signals to compute your score:
These signals are processed entirely on your device. They are never transmitted to any server, never stored beyond your local browser storage, and never associated with your identity.
Drift Light also runs a minimal content script on drift-light.app to handle the post-purchase activation flow and sync the site's theme preference. No browsing behavior on that domain is monitored.
All scores, settings, and session data are stored in chrome.storage.local and chrome.storage.sync on your device. chrome.storage.sync is used only to store a random anonymous install ID so that your trial status persists if you reinstall the extension on the same Google account.
On install, you receive 3 days of Pro access automatically. A random anonymous ID (a UUID with no personal information attached) is generated and sent to a Cloudflare-hosted API to track that extension trial. If you later subscribe through Stripe, that paid plan may include a separate 14-day Stripe billing trial before you are charged. After purchase, your Stripe customer ID is sent to the same API once daily to verify your subscription is still active. Stripe handles all payment processing — Drift Light never receives your card details.
Drift Light uses Stripe for payment processing and Cloudflare Workers for subscription verification. Stripe's privacy policy applies to data you provide at checkout. The Cloudflare API receives only anonymous IDs and subscription status — no behavioral data.
